History

The history of English tailoring dates centuries back and has since been a coveted luxury that many gentlemen desire. While bespoke tailoring has become an accepted practice all over the world, Harris & Howard, have stayed true to our British roots when it comes to our tailoring style and traditions.

In 2010, noticing a gap in the market for high-quality bespoke suits without the Savile Row price tag, professional clothier Carl Emery decided Harris & Howard Bespoke would be his next venture. Upon establishing the name, Carl drew inspiration from his beloved grandmothers who had been so dedicated in preserving precious garments during the war and went on to enjoy the fashion explosion of the sixties and seventies. It seemed fitting to pay homage, and Carl christened his business using his grandmothers’ maiden names: Harris and Howard. Not only do these names hold high valor and honor to their families, but both names are themselves linked to centuries of British tradition.

Since being in business, we’ve noticed how trends have often changed and fluctuated, for example, the way companies are now opting for a more casual office approach, so we pertain to this by growing our range of clothing. With generations of experience, our skills combined with our knowledge of modern fashion, technology, and fabric allow us the distinct ability to create both classic and contemporary designs to suit all client’s tastes. From business suits to formal wear and casual shirts to sportswear – we’re always up for the new and challenging – whatever it is you’re looking for; we’re happy to turn your ideas into reality.
