Custom Made Vests

A well-crafted vest delivers a classic look that can truly transform an outfit. The vest or waistcoat reportedly came about with Charles II in 1666 as a shorter replacement for the jacket. Nowadays, a staple in fashion, the modern vest offers a practical, sophisticated addition to every gentleman’s wardrobe. The vest is a notable element in the sartorial classic, three-piece suit. Either choose to match the cloth to the jacket and pants or make the vest the ensembles striking centerpiece with a patterned or contrasting cloth.

Single-Breasted Waistcoat

The most popular choice for a vest nowadays, is the single-breasted vest, it’s a timeless classic and staple to any gentleman’s wardrobe. Traditionally worn with five buttons, two welt pockets, and a pointed front that covers the waistband, this style tends to be incredibly flattering on every body shape.

We design our single-breasted vests with anything from three to seven buttons. We recommend the classic five, as the more buttons you have on your vest, the higher the front is needed so that the buttons are evenly spaced.

You can choose to style the single-breasted vest with a shawl lapel, peak, notch, or no lapel at all. Depending on the fabric you decide on, this vest is versatile enough to wear for any occasion, casual or formal.

Double-Breasted Waistcoat

A significantly more formal vest than its single-breasted counterpart, the double-breasted vest is generally reserved for high social occasions and is primarily to be worn underneath a suit.

The double-breasted vest has two rows of buttons running down the front with substantial overlap, allowing the buttons to be fastened. The overlay makes this vest a good choice for Winter, adding an extra layer of warmth.

The traditional style features a button closure of 3 x 3 with a shawl or peak lapel. However, when it comes to custom made, the number of buttons you have is up to you. Be daring with an 8 x 4 button closure, or even a 10 x 5.

Horseshoe Waistcoat

Regularly worn with morning or lounge suit attire, the horseshoe vest is the most formal vest you can opt for. The vest is distinguished by its a deep “bow” or “u-shape” opening. They’re designed to act in replacement of a cummerbund, covering the waistband and allowing space to show off the shirt underneath or a particularly flashy tie.

This vest has made a resurgence in recent years and can be worn in either a single-breasted or double-breasted style.
